Jennifer Lopez has teamed up with Cardi B and DJ Khaled on her new single titled “Dinero”, a high-energy Latin pop club banger that is guaranteed to be a hit summer anthem. While “Dinero” is overall pop-driven, its energy, flare, and blend of various genres will undoubtedly draw attention throughout the mainstream and broader hip-hop demographics.
Although we’ve heard Jennifer Lopez mix her Latin-American influences in with her many previous projects, it’s refreshing to hear her dip in and out between singing and, at times, rapping. This combination aids to more variety within the song, and ties together the material in her verses and the featured verse by Cardi B.
In regards to Cardi B, she unquestionably maintains the energy of the song in the delivery of a hard yet creatively-worded verse. Standout lyrics are “I told y’all I’m trap Selena/I’ll backhand a bitch like Serena” and “Two bad bitches that came from the Bronx/Cardi from the pole and Jenny from the block”, the previous line referencing how both Cardi B and Jennifer Lopez are originally from the Bronx.
DJ Khaled doesn’t offer much on the track vocally, and as fans, we can’t expect much from him besides dropping some inspirational quotes and adding ad-libs. “Dinero” is no different, as he mainly contributes some ad-libs on Lopez’s verses. His main work is primarily in the production of the track alongside Tommy Brown.
The title of the track, “Dinero”, is the Spanish word for “money”. Jennifer Lopez’s lyrics are mainly centered around the idea of making money, especially in the choruses.
