Four months following the release of his third studio album Jackman, Jack Harlow has released the third music video pertaining to the project in “Denver.”
While Jack Harlow has been known to be braggadocious in his rhymes and humorous in interviews, the album is a culmination of the rapper’s reality. Listeners are able to see behind the veil and see Harlow’s human side. A music video for “Denver” was put into motion as it is arguably his most honest piece.
Jack Harlow’s “Denver” is an honest conversation with listeners and himself alike. The first verse is truthful in expressing Jack’s battles with mental health. He expresses his desire for validation while also exploring the toll that the music industry takes on him. Most importantly, he expresses the need to be there for his loved ones.
The music video takes these notions to heart as it hones in on his feelings of isolation. The first verse mixes shots between Jack on stage, in a hotel room, or driving. All these shots only emphasize his loneliness. It’s not until the second verse that listeners hear about his journey from feeling alone.
It also makes sense why someone like NBA Champion, Jamal Murray, appears only during the second verse. Jamal Murray’s cameo appearance solidifies the video as he is also someone who has been open about his own battles with mental health. He has also been honest about the role it took on his road to becoming a champion.
Jack Harlow ends the video with him hiking through the Colorado Rocky Mountains. As he walks along with the mountain goats in the background, the isolated scenes from earlier are gone as there is only open space around him. Be sure to check out the video for “Denver” and stay tuned for more RMR updates.
