J. Cole called out to producers for beats on Twitter proclaiming all beats will be murdered. A day later he drops something over the “Ochy Wally” instrumental. ‘Album Of The Year’ is a proclamation to not forget Cole’s K.O.D. album with all this new music being released.
Cole eats the beat up for breakfast showcasing various cadences and punch lines until lunch time. I feel Cole falls slightly off towards the end of the record. His last few bars seemed pretty filler, but when you’re spitting for a few minutes straight it can be difficult to tie up a freestyle.
All around, this is pretty heat. Continuing to speak on current social issues in a commercial way. Big ups to Cole. Also, dope to see it premiere on World Star Hip-hop as well. Cole has been reaching towards the younger generation with a purpose. Wondering what “The Off Season” could be hinting at?
