Ahead of her upcoming six-track EP titled Survive The Summer, Iggy Azalea has dropped two new singles to hold fans over until the initial release which includes “Kream” featuring Tyga. The new single samples the Wu-Tang Clan’s song “C.R.E.A.M”, which includes many similarities, most notably with the skeletal instrumental around the vocals.
While Iggy Azalea definitely falls into the “mainstream” side rap where it is often questioned if her music is even hip-hop, she interestingly changes things up with her overall delivery. While her previous hits have featured more abrasive verses that will hit listeners right in the face, in “Kream” her voice is more filtered and mellow. Because of this, it’s instantly a more enjoyable listen.
It wouldn’t be an Iggy Azalea song if there weren’t quotable lyrics pointed at certain individuals. Aside from the common and expected lines about her success and money, she doesn’t disappoint with lines such as “Hit me on my cash app, check it in the morning/ Cash, in this bitch shinin’/ Dressed in designer, she could get heightening/ And it’s perfect timing, dream with the tanny/ Bella Hadid, homie could get it”
Tyga unsurprisingly adds similar lyrics with lines “Ass rules everything around me/ Deep in that pussy, ya I’m drowning”, which is typical to hear from his songs. While “Kream” doesn’t showcase Iggy Azalea and Tyga at their best, it’s a song that provides more of a mood compared to representing a certain skill set of the artist. It’s at the very least a fun club-friendly track that is an entertaining listen.
