While some think of Halloween as a one-day event, Insomniac makes Hulaween a four-day fun-packed experience. The music festival runs from October 26th to the 29th; where attendees can camp, catch captivating performances from hand-selected talent, and be embraced in the love of the community. Each of these crucial aspects of the festival give Hulaween its outstanding reputation.
Hulaween 2023: 10th Anniversary
While Hulaween celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’ll be my third time going and I couldn’t be more excited! I know for sure, that I’m in for another spook-tacular experience and the mystical Live Oak Forest won’t disappoint. If you are into camping festivals that showcase different genres of music, good vibes, and unforgettable art installations, Hula could become your yearly must-attend as well.
Music
Packed with musical diversity, Hulaween offers EDM, R&B, and Psychedelic Rock performances. With sets from Smino, John Summit, Mt. Joy, and daily performances from The String Cheese Incident, it’ll be hard to pass up seeing them all in one place.

On Thursday you can expect to see performances from Blond:ish, The Jauntee, Boogie T, and more; while on Friday, you can catch Goose, Bad Snacks, Khiva, and Free Range Strange. On Saturday, the event starts at 1:30 PM. From then until 4 AM, you will be able to see Yam Yam, Melt, and The Dip. The last official day of the festival is Sunday; complete with performances from Sneezy, Dispatch, UFO, and Veil, to name a few. However, there are bound to be renegade sets within the camp grounds, as well. So keep your eyes peeled and your ears open!
Vibes
If you want guaranteed good vibes, Hulaween is the place to be. From campers putting out “Take one, Leave One” tables, to attendees getting married on the grounds, it’s hard not to feel the love of the community.
Every year that I’ve attended, the vibes have always given me the feeling of never wanting to go back to regular society; and I’m not the only one. While the festival ends on Sunday, the fun doesn’t stop there for many returning attendees. Some people arrive a day earlier or stay longer because they want to keep the party going. They’re allowed to stay because, on regular days, the Live Oak Forest is a public campsite.
