HMF Artists Week 3

Jack Frost- Nicholas Craven, Boldly James

First HMF artists up this week is the artist and producer Nicholas Craven and lyrical wordsmith Boldly James. The duo teamed up to create a silky smooth beat. The track sampled the sleazy, vibrant 1978 track Do It by Miquel Brown. Anytime Boldy James lands on a track with an obscure sample looped, just know it’ll be gold. This track is the second on their album Penalty of Leadership. The duo had been hinting at the release of the album on their IG pages, counting down the days until the official drop. Now that it’s here, it’s hard to keep it off repeat.

Beep Beep- Nicki Minaj (feat. 50 Cent)

Next, the queen Nicki Minaj is back-dropping the Pluto Edition of Pink Friday 2. This time she added OG 50 Cent to Beep Beep. Over 2 decades later 50 Cent still packs heat like he never left. And with Murda Beatz, and OJ Finessey on the beat, the track is guaranteed to hit. Of all the HMF artists on here this week, Niki is dominating.

Foe Tha Love of $- OFFTHEWOP Tunes, LulBoobie, MoneyBagg Yo, FreshDuzIt

Subsequently, Foe Tha Love $ is different! At first glance from the title, you might assume the track would sample The Bone Thugz n Harmony track; instead, it takes a more chill approach maintaining that 90’s West Coast mixtape style. The beat, produced by FreshDuzIt, adds to the sample train of the original track Let Me Prove My Love by The Main Ingredient, which was also used in Alicia Keys, You Don’t Know My Name. An example of HMF artists absolutely killin’ it.

At The Party- Kid Cudi (feat. Pharrell & Travis Scott)

Further, this HMF artists collab team alone is enough for the song to blow up. With the illustrious trio of producer Pharell Williams, Kid Cudi, and Travis Scott, it’s a no-brainer the track blew up the way it did. The track is the 11th one on the INSANO album and is one of their most popular tracks to date.  Check out our recent album review of INSANO here!

n.h.i.e.- 21 Savage & Doja Cat

N.H.I.E 21 Savage and Doja Cat. Next up, this team-up is a collaboration the world didn’t know we needed but can’t live without. The track is from one of his newest albums, “american dream.” 21 Savage had a message to his haters with “I’m havin’ plaques on plaques..You niggas’ streams ain’t that” or “I done seen a hater get whacked..Hit him nine times, he a cat…” in his first verse. His chorus is an honest introspection on who he is and what he wouldn’t do. Doja is so unserious with her “adlib” that she’s at the point where she doesn’t have to try hard to bar a verse down. Her flow is sharp, memorable, and humorous meshing well with 21 Savage’s verse and chorus “That ain’t somethin’ I would do!” Check out the full review we did on the album!

Yung Joc- TiaCorine (feat. Luh Tyler)

Yung Joc (feat. Luh Tyler): Tia Corine can’t keep her foot off haters’ necks with the versatile track Yung Joc. It’s only two minutes but she bars down every second of her verse with Luh Tyler ending with her unique flow. It’s light and unisex like Tia Corinne’s style. The track itself is light and airy with the lyrics packing a punch.

Put The City On- Casey Veggies

Casey Veggies This is for sure an LA banger. First, it starts slowed and slurred before picking up the beat. This single pays homage to Casey Veggie’s hometown on the west coast. He raps to a poppy keyboard beat produced by Dylan Rudy. Closer to the end Rudy changes up the flow to mock a retro techno style as Veggies repeats his catchy chorus. This track is the perfect track to wake-and-bake to early in the morning before you start the day.

Bron- Benny The Butcher

The Butcher coming! Back with nothing but heat from Benny the Butcher. This time he comes in a little different. In contrast to the sample-heavy beats he usually rides out with his team Griselda, he took a unique approach with producer Hit-Boy to a nostalgic trap; beat that is reminiscent of 2009. Benny touts his success and  triumph against all odds with his verse in the chorus “ I can’t resist all this winnin’ It’s like mе and success built a bond” which is symbolic of his journey to where he is today.

LiGhT rAiLs- 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, Rick Ross, Rich Brian

LiGhT rAiLs- 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE; This trap heavy beat is carried by legend Rick Ross and Rich Brian. Brian has never shied down from a rap beat that he couldn’t bear down, and with Rick Ross’ brassy style, his verses maintain a cadence that’s smooth like Cuban smoke. He adds his casual flair with lyrics flexing with his iconic line, “I been rich do research    ”. The cover art shows the signature art style of the producer 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE, who is similarly known for his track MiNt ChoColate with Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn.

Neighborhood- Teezo Touchdown

Neighborhood- Teezo Touchdown: Lastly, this track is the sixth song on his newest album “How Do You Sleep At Night?” He tells the stories of the different neighborhoods and the realities of how people live. Each verse depicts the different stories of people’s living conditions, whether it’s from dealing with exclusion in a neighborhood or sleeping in a parking lot. His lyrics shed light on perspectives that are often overlooked in popular media.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this roundup of fire new music, and that you found one or two new favorite bangers.
