7 Hip-Hop Festivals To Check Out In 2022

SXSW (South by Southwest)

South By Southwest (SXSW) is an annual gathering of film, interactive media, music festivals and conferences that takes place in Austin, Texas. Taking place March 14-20, with the full event on the 11th through 20th, SXSW is one of the biggest events in hip-hop every year. What’s unique about SXSW is that it’s not only one of the best hip-hop festivals to catch great acts, but it is also a great networking event. Some big names on the lineup include heavy hitters like Maxo Kream and Sada Baby.

Rolling Loud Miami

Rolling Loud Miami has become one of the most hyped and sought after festivals for hip-hop heads who want to see all their favorite artists in one go. This festival has helped make careers for people in recent memory, such as Sheck Wes and his hit “Mo Bamba.” Taking place July 22-24, you still have some time to plan and get the squad together. Not a lot has been released yet as to who will be there, but you can expect an insane lineup as always. Highlights in the past have included Lil Uzi Vert, Ski Mask The Slump God, Megan Thee Stallion, Rae Sremmurd, and too many more to name!

Days of Summer Cruise Fest

This festival, hosted by DJ Khaled, takes place on a three-day cruise on July 1-4. Departing from the Port of Miami on July 1st at 5pm, there will be sail away entertainment on your way to the first stop in the Bahamas. There is a wide array of events and activities, including a hip-hop workout class, basketball tournament, beach parties, after parties, and more. If all of that wasn’t enough, Lil Baby will also be making his way onboard for a performance along with many other hip-hop artists.

Smokin’ Grooves Festival

Taking place March 19th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, Smokin’ Grooves is a dope mash-up of hip-hop and R&B vibes. Big names on this year’s lineup include Erykah Badu, Nas, Miguel, and Smino. A single day neo-soul festival, Smokin’ Grooves is a great time but may be a little more low-key than a festival like Rolling Loud. Be ready to spark and vibe to some good music with good people.

If the Dreamville name is attached, it’s pretty much guaranteed that whatever it is, it’s going to be fire. That’s no different with their Dreamville Festival in North Carolina as it returns this year for a two-day affair. Clear your schedules on April 2-3 because there isn’t a single miss on this lineup. You can expect this hip-hop festival to have some top notch and well thought out performances. The lineup is always loaded with Dreamville members such as J. Cole, J.I.D, Bas, and EARTHGANG. Past lineups have also included SZA, Big Sean, and Nelly. If you haven’t already been, it’s one of those highly recommended hip-hop festivals for just about any fan.
