Industrial Hemp Cultivation Now Legal In United States

With help from Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump has legalized the cultivation of industrial hemp according to The Hill. The 2018 Farm Bill was signed by Trump and contained language from McConnell’s 2018 Hemp Cultivation Bill that allows for the production of industrial hemp in the United States.

Hemp contains none of the psychoactive chemicals found in cannabis. Food, clothes, biofuels, insulation, and building materials can all be made from hemp. This legislation clears a majority of the obstacles preventing farmers from growing hemp. The plant utilizes less water and requires less fertile soil with a wider expanse of potential uses.
