A week from today, thousands from across the world will be heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama to rage out to artists in all genres, and we get to do it while on the beach too! Hangout Music Festival 2024 will begin for its 13th year in a row, and this is my fourth time attending. However, this is going to be the first year I get to go for Respect My Region. It should go without saying that I could not be more STOKED for this. There’s a lot to get into, so let’s hit it.
The Layout of Hangout
Gulf Shores, Alabama is unlike any other part of the state as you pull up and are right along the gorgeous Gulf Coast. This festival is nestled right next to the Hangout Restaurant with five different stages: Monster Beach Club, Mermaid Stage, Boom on the Beach, Shoreline and Hangout Main Stage.
Other than the Mermaid Stage that’s always sat by the Hangout Restaurant, all stages will be right on the sand with Monster Beach Club having direct beach access to take a dip in the water!
If you need a break from the stages, but still want to go for a little swim, Malibu’s The Oasis and Corona’s Beach Access will also be available. If you want a place to chill off the sand, look no further than The Great Lawn where there’s a grassy area to lay back on and exclusive merch to browse. Other dope perks include the wedding chapel (where you can schedule a real ceremony if you send an email), spots like EVA NYC Tropical Spa and Volume ONE Salon to get your festie look just right, Smooch A Pooch tent (you heard that right), free slurpees and sooo much more.
Let’s Get To The Schedule
Day One:
It’s so hard to pick out the artists that I’m most excited to see. I’m also just as excited to hear from artists that I am not as familiar with and hope to fall in love with. To name a few, I’m excited to see MADDS, Daily Bread and Dominic Fike for the first time. A Day To Remember at the Hangout Mainstage is going to bring back my inner emo child, seeing The Chainsmokers at Hangout Fest once again on the Boom on the Beach Stage is going to be a full circle moment that will be incredible to experience, and of course, dreamy queen Lana Del Rey is headlining at the Hangout Main Stage. I already know this is going to be a legendary first day of the festival.
Day Two:
Halfway through the festival, and it’ll consist of talented artists like Sommer Ray, Westend, Dasha, Brandi Cyrus, VNSSA b2b Nala, etc. This is where it can get difficult with so many incredible performances overlapping. Tough decisions will have to be made. One thing for sure though, Sexyy Red at Boom On The Beach and Cage The Elephant on the Hangout Main Stage are definitely on the list.
Then my top two performances I’m most excited about: Alison Wonderland at 8:30 on the Boom on the Beach Stage and ODESZA at 9:30 in the Hangout Main Stage. It’s hard to not fall hard for such a talent like Alison, and I have no doubt she’s going to be life changing. This will actually be my third time seeing ODESZA, but I am the most excited for this over everything because it will be another BIG full circle moment for me that will undoubtedly be a core life memory.
Day Three:
For the final day of this epic fest, we’ll get to see the likes of AB$NTH, Odd Mob x OMNOM: Hyperbeam, Kasbo, Nelly, Paul Russell, Dom Dolla, Chromeo and more. Another exciting one for the former emo kid in me is All Time Low at the Hangout Main Stage who I’m sure will rock the whole beach. Another favorite of mine that I’ll get to see is Subtronics at the Boom on the Beach Stage at 8:15, and you already know he’s gonna absolutely melt some faces. I’m so ready for it. Then to wrap up the fest, we’ve got country music sensation Zach Bryan helping wind it all down to a close. As the festival commences, it’s tradition to enjoy a fireworks show to the tune of Sweet Home Alabama.
While you’re enjoying all the fun Hangout has to offer, be sure to be sure to do your part for this beautiful beach and participate in the Share The Beach Recycling Program where you can grab bags to collect trash all around the festival grounds and turn them in for swag. Those who collect the most trash have also won tickets to the festival for the next year! You better not miss out on this.
