Yao Ging is a cannabis farm that I had previously not heard of. I went into Discovery Bay Cannabis outside of Port Angeles on my way to Thanksgiving. I was looking for a budget bag to roll up into a few blunts to try and sneak before feasting. The budtender working recommended Gelato 43 from Yao Ging. Like Gelato, this is a hybrid phenotype of the popular strain; created by crossing Sunset Sherbet and GSC.
Yao Ging utilizes plastic bags to package their cannabis. I’m not a fan of this style of packaging due to the limited opportunities to recycle it and potential problems with preserving the freshness of the cannabis. A border of pot leaves encompasses a viewing window in the middle of the packaging. Normally these packages are fairly easy to open, this one required scissors and some extra muscle to get to the cannabis.
Inside the package were four nugs that varied in size. They did smell, but they smelled more like grass than cannabis. The buds are a dark green color, there are no trichomes covering them. Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical about how much I would need to smoke to get high before Thanksgiving. I ended up rolling the entire bag into to blunts. I could have used more cannabis, or I should have sprung for something a bit nicer. Their was almost no flavor in the cannabis and I only managed to get high after the second blunt, with a killer headache after.
