Typically, when we hear the term “indica-leaning” we think of the couch-locked, sedative state of relaxation that is best suited towards the end of the night. However, with strains like the Garlic Creamsicle by Cronja, you may be able to experience the relaxing effects of indica without the sleepiness. The genetics of the strain are unknown which can make it difficult to gauge how its experience will be. That’s why RMR’s Joey “Jayping” took the time to put this strain to the test.
Appearance
There were a few notable characteristics of the Garlic Creamsicle’s appearance that stood out as both good and bad.
Firstly, the smell and coloring of the bud were great. After opening the bag, users can detect a funky, garlic-like scent with notes of orange. The heavy, earthy smell balances out nicely with its bright citrus undertones.
The smell and flavor of the Garlic Creamsicle point toward its dominant terpene: caryophyllene. One of the most abundant terpenes in cannabis, caryophyllene gives off a peppery, warm aroma that smells similar to black pepper and diesel. The presence of this terpene also points to a high potential to being used as a medicinal strain. This is because caryophyllene is known to have a strong ability to interact with the peripheral CB2 receptors throughout the body. These receptors are responsible for the non-psychoactive benefits of THC and may play an important role in regulating inflammation.
A nug of the Garlic Creamsicle strain from Cronja
Regarding coloring, the strain has a bright green base with bursts of purple and dark amber hairs. The nugs also have a light dusting of trichomes that gives them a slightly frosted look.
Where the strain is lacking is in its size. The 3.5-gram bag includes eight nugs that are all less than 0.5 grams each, with two nugs being about the size of a pea. While this may be suitable for a small bag, for a strain of this quality, the Garlic Creamsicle should be sold in large nugs.
Experience
The first hit of the Garlic Creamsicle brought out some of the more subtle notes from its smell. An orange, creamy flavor on the inhale turns into a spicy, diesel flavor on the exhale. While slightly harsh on the burn, Joey still gave the smoking portion of the review a 10 out of 10.
At 30.35% THC, the strain is classified as high potency. After only two hits, Joey could feel a body high with light pressure in his chest. Users may experience a potentially calming high with a feeling of relaxation in the body. As far as the cerebral effects, users may find that they can still focus after smoking the Garlic Creamsicle.
The Final Review
The overall effects and experience of the strain make it ideal for activities like playing video games, hanging with friends, running errands, or doing chores around the house. When it comes to medical potential, The Garlic Creamsicle may be an ideal strain to treat anxiety, depression, or chronic stress.
Joey’s experience led him to rate the strain an 88 out of 100.
