G4 Live, the essential super event for the cannabis industry came to Las Vegas May 12-14th at the legendary Las Vegas Convention Center. Presented by Budtender Awards 2022, this event brought together some of the cannabis industry’s biggest brands and thought leaders. It also invited countless budtenders for free to take part in this one-of-a-kind experience. We were able to catch performances from DJ Snoopadelic and hang out with the likes of The Pot Brothers at Law, Mike Tyson, and more.
The experience at G4 Live Presented by Budtender Awards 2022 was elevated. It felt like the perfect blend of professional networking and first-class entertainment. We got to interact with a concise number of cannabis brands, hear high-profile speaker panels, take in celebrity performances, and smoke big at afterparties. G4 did a stealthy job at making sure there was always something for us to do.
The Expo
Walking into the expo hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, we were welcomed by some incredible brand activations. Considering the size of the expo hall, the more refined number of brands elegantly maximized the space. The Convention Center floor was buzzing with high-level conversations from owners, buyers, and budtenders.
Respect My Region COO Joey Brabo (@joey.jayping) said, “walking through the floor was intimate. I felt that way because there weren’t more than 30 booths.” He made note of the Pot Brothers at Law and Cannabis Talk 101 doing interviews throughout the day. Considering the first day of the expo was a workday for many budtenders, the conversations and connections on Thursday were still palpable and the weather in Vegas was perfect.
Joey said that “the second day was more lively. There was more energy on the trade show floor. You could feel that people were more excited and in higher attendance.” Standout booths we got to experience were Rove, 40 Tons, Ispire, and Select.
“40 Tons had an attention-grabbing booth that was set up like a jail cell. Select had a really cool brand activation with a prize grabber,” Joey told us. He was also able to catch several speaker panels from the likes of Dr. Dina, President Vicente Fox, and more.
Education
G4 Live came together with Oaksterdam University to present enlightening educational programs for both budtenders and attendees. You could feel the excitement about the plant in the air as Oaksterdam University representatives spoke with curious people throughout the expo. There aren’t really any other big cannabis events that put such an emphasis on budtenders.

The Budtender Awards Ceremony
The Budtender Awards ceremony was decadent and auspicious. Held at Palms Casino Resort, the evening air was still warm as attendees came out in full support. Joey told us that “Budtender Awards was lit. Rachel Wolfson hosted and I smoked with Mike Tyson, and Boaz Queen of the South.” Budtenders came from far and wide to learn, celebrate, and smoke with some legends. The awards ceremony tapered off seamlessly into the afterparty for the rest of the evening.
Mike Tyson’s Pound For Pound Award
Mike Tyson and his Tyson 2.0 brand went on the search for the best cannabis in California and/or Nevada. After a large number of entries, a winner was finally chosen on May 14th on-stage at the Budtender Awards ceremony. Las Vegas’ Reina was the official winner of the Pound For Pound Award and will get to cultivate a special pheno with Tyson 2.0. Congrats to Reina’s team; we can’t wait to see what y’all come up with.
Sponsors
The sponsors at this year’s G4 Live Presented by Budtender Awards deserve one more shoutout. The Afterparties
Following the Budtender Awards ceremony was an equally lit afterparty at the Kali Mansion. DJ Snoopadelic (yes, Snoop Dogg,) was spinning for a large portion of the evening. My Bud Vase had some eye-grabbing bongs out for people to smoke from. Joey said that “at the Kali Mansion party I got to smoke with Boaz again. I also hit these crazy pieces from My Bud Vase.” The evening was full of incredibly big smoke and live entertainment. We were also able to hold more intimate conversations with the cannabis industry’s elite we had seen at the expo.
Conclusion
We can’t thank the G4 Live and Budtender Awards team enough for providing us with such a memorable experience in Las Vegas this past May 12-14th. Joey was able to network with some of our close California connections as well as dive deeper into building relationships with a number of Nevada operators and retailers. If we had one critique, we would have loved to see more brands presenting. One this is certain, G4 Live and the Budtender Awards know how to throw an event. It was evident that they had thought of everything from the moment we set foot into Vegas and made us feel like royalty throughout our time there.
