The grandest stage of hip-hop now has multiple divisions across the country that spring up throughout the year. 2023’s first Rolling Loud weekend was massive in every sense of the word and overflowing with talent. The traveling party has established itself as a magnetic force that brings together the most groundbreaking hip-hop and R&B artists, and its first event of the year only further proved why it has become central to the culture.
From Lil Uzi Vert teasing new music to Lil Wayne bringing out Nicki Minaj for a cameo, the surprises just kept coming this past weekend in Los Angeles. Artists on the rise got to put themselves out there, fan favorites played set after set to explosive crowds and the veterans basked in the glory of the culture they helped build. The three-day festival pulled through despite the challenging weather conditions in Inglewood, which is where the event took place.
There was, however, one notable figure missing from the carnival. Scheduled to perform on the opening night, New York rapper Fivio Foreign was a no-show for his Friday set. Though fans who had gathered for his performance were justifiably disappointed, he did briefly address his absence on Twitter later that night. He posted on social media hours after missing his slot, but this didn’t seem like a negligent move because it sounded like he’s dealing with some serious issues.

As per the above tweet, Foreign has never missed a show before. This has led many to believe that the matter at hand most likely isn’t a triviality. No further details regarding his condition have been revealed, but the rapper did tweet about the importance of mental health a few weeks ago. Whether or not his current situation is related to the February posts is unclear, but certainly worth keeping in mind in the context of his ongoing struggles.
