Felix Jaehn has surpassed every limitation in his life placed on him because of his age and lack of professional experience. At 20-years-old Felix became famous overnight with his remix of Jamaican singer OMI’s song “Cheerleader” back in 2015.
“Cheerleader” went Diamond in 2019. This award honors artists whose singles or albums reach 10,000,000 sales. For a 20-year-old who grew up in a small German village, this is remarkable. Felix’s hit single “Ain’t Nobody” also dropped in 2015 and has finally earned Felix a second Diamond.
This elevates Felix to a record-breaking title of the youngest German artists to receive two Diamond awards at his astonishingly young age. With all this success came some troubles too. Being so young, Felix was thrown into touring across the world before he even knew who he was.
Felix Jaehn – “Cheerleader” Remix (Radio Edit)
In a six minute video Felix talks about his anxieties and insecurities caused by his sudden stardom. He reported feeling unsure of his music and who he was, making the pressure and exposure on tour difficult. Felix said despite all this the experiences he’s had around the world are even too much to put into words.
Felix shares a notable memory of looking out at his fans as they sang along to “Cheerleader.” It was at that moment he knew that the fans weren’t just fans—they were his fans. The realization that all these people were there to see him helped restore Felix’s confidence.
