The Los Angeles weed delivery service known as Emjay is looking for a paid intern to test out cannabis products for three months. According to their blog, they are looking for “an all-star cannabis aficionado intern” to test out the 600+ vapes, flowers, edibles and more that they sell to customers.
This opportunity truly sounds like something out of a dream. Mothers across America have been telling their teenagers the sheer opposite for decades. “You can’t make a living smoking pot!” Granted, this internship is only for three months, it comes with a $15 hourly rate. So you technically can make a living off of smoking pot (for a minute).
Emjay Delivery is not the only company that has offered a position like this. Earlier in May, American Marijuana was looking for a similar reviewer, and HealthCanal is also looking for candidates at the time of writing this.
Breakdown of the position
Now like I said, the job sounds a little dreamy. And that’s because if you think this is a job where you can sit around, spark one and take some notes, it’s not. According to the listing on Indeed, here are some important requirements:
- Resident of California ages 21+
Plain and simple, you must be a resident of California to apply.
- Legitimate knowledge of cannabinoids and terpenes, not just indica and sativa
It’s important to note that the products Emjay sells, much like most reputable dispensaries, are designed to have a multitude of different effects, or aspects attached to the primary experience. Terpenes, followed by cannabinoids, are responsible for this (as well as some other attributes such as flavor). If you have no idea what any of this is, you definitely have some research to do.
- Exemplary writing skills
Emjay is looking for “a passionate, detail-oriented creative writer…[that has] experience with cannabis, experience writing, creating digital content, and a desire to use their voice to help inform the masses.” The application also asks for a one-page paper or a 4:20 video explaining why you would be a good fit. One way or another, you need to be a skilled writer to get this gig.
