Virginia’s own Emanuel Brown has just dropped his first full-length offering of all originals titled, “The News.” Relocating to Seattle almost five years ago, Brown has been building his name in the local scene. This album is a huge stepping stone for his life and career, after just having his first child.
Emanuel Brown has been low-key thriving despite life not giving him the best breaks. This album tells a story about where he comes from, what he’s seen, and who he is today. The dude is presenting us with some straight up newsworthy work.“The News” takes you on a spacey, vibing, sometimes dark journey through the lens of Brown. He reels you in with a reverb-filled, down-tempo boom and bap. Then you’re tossed into a bass-filled old-school hip-hop beat. This album’s got the grit of VA with the wet, sauced-up vibes of Seattle that produce memorable hooks.
Brown highlights the struggle of growing up in hard times in Virginia, yet finding hope and “good news” to share with the world. Sultry saxophone and horn samples ring in the void on several tracks of this album.
Emanuel Brown reported that his living Seattle for nearly five years has birthed more opportunities in the game than he ever had back in Virginia. This album took him two and half years to complete, while so much has been happening in the rap scene in Seattle.
Brown works with local artists such as the homie B-Boy Fidget who he recently performed with at Nectar Lounge. Brown also highlights that he’ll be releasing up to five videos for songs off the full-length. Keep it locked for updates on those videos, and coming show dates!
