EDC weekend was a life-changing, unforgettable time that will be with me forever.
“All Are Welcome Here,” was the 2017 motto of the festival, and it was definitely a welcoming experience. 2017 is Electric Daisy Carnival’s (EDC) 21st birthday, and Insomniac made sure it was a banger for the super bowl of raves.
Over 200 artists playing, 8 stages, dusk till dawn. It’s a journey.
EDC 2017 Recap
Day 1:
I participated in a scavenger hunt that Galantis was hosting through a new app, Metaverse. I won the prize of a table at their EDC Week Day Club performance.

I heard horror stories of Las Vegas traffic, so I decided to take the shuttles to EDC rather than drive and I’m glad I did. The Shuttles cut through airforce base, bypassing all of the normal traffic. The line was long to get through because everybody was hyped up for the first day. Security with the shuttles was very efficient, we got to walk right in when we got to the gates. Right when I got there, I ran to see the magical Martin Garrix. He was blowing it up at Kinetic Field, EDC’s main stage.

I left Garrix early to head to Circuit Grounds the co-main stage of the festival. Zedd was about to go on and play with my heart. He had everybody on their feet, jumping along with him. Playing every song of his that everybody loves, the energy was fantastic.
Up next, my favorite set of the whole festival: Galantis. This was my third time seeing them in less than 24 hours, but every time is like the first time seeing them for me. Their festival sets are unlike any other sets they play. They bring out everything, especially EDC, it’s a special festival. The main fireworks had just started while their intro came on and they walked out on stage. It was truly heartfelt for me. All of Seafox Nation was around that stage watching the boys have the time of their lives. Performing for us, making our dreams come true. It was an All Is Welcome vibe that was one of the greatest I’ve ever felt.
After Galantis ended, one of the most exciting back to back sets was about to tear up Audien back to back with Blau. These besties probably had the most fun performing together. Their music together back to back is incredible, they’re sounds are similar, but it’s different enough to compliment each other in the perfect way.
It was a top highlight of the festival for me. I had left their set early to beat the traffic rush and get back to my hotel

Day 2:
I left my hotel later to avoid the line for the shuttle which worked out perfectly. I get to the festival a little after 10, so I head over to Kinetic Field and wait for Kygo to start hitting me in the feels. He played every song I wanted to hear and his set was explosive. Everybody was singing along. This is where schedule confections really came into play. I left Kygo early and headed over to Circuit Grounds to catch part of Alesso, before going to Cosmic Meadow for Porter Robinson.
Alesso, for that small time I got to watch him, I was speechless. It had been over 2 years since last seeing him at Paradiso 2015, and it had been way to long. I was unbelievably happy. When I got to Cosmic Meadow, I decided to sit in the stands to get a better view of Porter’s set. Cosmic Meadow is the best stage for visuals, and if you know Porter, you know his visuals make his set. After Porter, I made one of the toughest decisions. Dillon Francis or Above & Beyond?
I migrated back to Circuit Grounds to watch Above & Beyond, which was magical all around. They premiered new stuff for the EDC crowd, and they had made everyone really feel something, I felt really touched from that set.
After, I headed over to the new stage Quantum Valley to watch the last of Gareth Emery before heading back to my hotel.

Day 3:
I headed out to the festival later than any of the days because it was too hot for comfort. The shuttle arrived just in time for Marshmello to start tearing the place apart. He had everybody going wild. His crowd was one of the largest I’ve seen at Kinetic Field. MelloGang out there going strong was a sight to see.
I left Mello early to head over to Circuit Grounds to catch the ass end of Axwell ^ Ingrosso, which was fantastic! I could feel the familiar Swedish House Mafia vibes. Everybody had the biggest smiles on their faces when they closed out with Sun Is Shining.
Next up was our very own Seven Lions, who hails from the Pacific Northwest! Hands down, he was my second favorite set of the whole festival. That set like all of his sets was life changing. Jeff knows how to connect with the people in the crowd with his music to make everything feel like you’re worlds apart from everything else. If you weren’t at that set or watching the live stream then what were you even doing with your life?
After Seven Lions, I went back to Kinetic Field to watch Madeon, which was the last set I watched at the festival. Kinetic Field was empty because everybody and their mom were watching Excision break Circuit Grounds again. But, it was nice having room to dance and to enjoy my last set of EDC. Madeon was putting out some heartwarming vibes and mixes that were a perfect ending to EDC for me.

Electric Daisy Carnival was an unbelievable thing to experience. A once in a lifetime thing as some people describe it. I’m feeling the post festival depression now, especially after writing this. It’s surely something I won’t ever forget and it’s something I will definitely want to experience again. Next year maybe?
