Dutchie, the cannabis startup rocket ship and cannabis e-commerce platform is on a quest to “become the Door Dash of cannabis,” according to Jon Bond, Dutchie’s Director of Strategic Partnerships. Dutchie is a powerful online portal that connects cannabis aficionados with their favorite dispensaries. They enable customers to carry out simple online ordering, delivery, and curbside pickups.
COVID-19 has changed the world. Commerce has shifted towards the online order whether by delivery, curbside pick up, or carry-out. Cannabis is no stranger. Dutchie was blazing through the industry before the Coronavirus affected everything—and they’ve since exploded. This is in part because they’re partnering with like-minded companies. Services like Hypur and Merrco have continually innovated the online ordering experience with their customers in mind.
Strategic Partnerships
The regulations behind banking and cannabis have paved a rocky road to accepting digital transactions. Dutchie’s latest moves have made huge strides in this department. Dutchie has combined forces with Hypur and Merrco to open huge avenues for cannabis e-commerce orders to be fully completed online.
Hypur is a unique payment platform that enables online purchasing. They have a similar trajectory, customer space, and mentality as Dutchie. Dutchie is partnering with companies that have the ability to integrate with their systems in a way that doesn’t limit the consumer’s online shopping experience.
Traditionally, consumers must order online and pay with cash during the pick-up. Customers can now use Hypur to checkout fully online with third-party services like Paypal.
Dutchie has also been making moves north of the border with secure payment solutions provider Merrco. This Ontario based company allows people in Canada to purchase cannabis online with their Visa or Mastercard. This is a revolutionary step in not only normalizing the cannabis-shopping experience, but allowing cannabis businesses to deal in digital currency as any other business in 2020.
Dutchie’s Secret Formula
Dutchie’s growth comes from its ability to remain hyper-focused. While many companies have put a focus on being the “all in one” solution — Dutchie became fixated on being first-in-class for online ordering in the cannabis industry. They’re building strategic partnerships with leaders in other areas around the online-cannabis-shopping process which allows them to grow immensely in their pinpointed field.
Bond was giddy when speaking on the “game-changing stuff” coming to Dutchie’s platform in the future. Bond was vague. But, he said the future product features and third-party integrations will be “revolutionizing how cannabis consumers shop.”
Letting people buy cannabis with their debit cards is already incredibly revolutionary for the cannabis space. If their next moves make as large of waves as this—Dutchie’s next tricks may put them ahead of the competition for the foreseeable future.
