Up and coming Portland rapper, Donté Thomas, released his first song of the year entitled “The Warm Up,” on February 9th. The track, a remix of “Checc Me Out” by Nipsey Hustle, demonstrates Donté’s lyrical creativity and expertise. His flow is quick, rhythmic, diverse, and completely different that Nipsey’s on the original version of the track. Donté’s interpretation of the track, and his ability to capitalize using his unique style really makes him stand out in a genre so often populated with derivative sounds and lyrical biting.
