Notorious Seattle hip-hop icon Dave B let loose the lead single, “Pretty,” from his forthcoming album Bleu. The single saw production from Vitamin D, Papi, and Dave B himself. “Pretty” finds Dave exploring how self-esteem intertwines with the superficial and narcissistic nature that exists in today’s digital age.

Currently, Dave is overseas on a European tour that’s already hit Belgium, London, Switzerland, and Paris. After killing stages in Berlin last night, he’ll be hitting Rotterdam today to perform at REC Festival. Needless to say, the dude is plenty busy and cooking up something big. Dave B – “Pretty”
“’Pretty’ is all about self-love in a world where the perception of self is heavily influenced by Instagram,” explains Dave B. “We need to enforce that beauty starts within and not online through social media.”
In the song, you can hear him clowning on his peers who stay obsessed with their online persona while still putting that same lens on himself. He comments on his “fetish with cash,” and how it’s easy to make everyone look at him while they have the world at their fingertips. Everyone including himself is dead-set on getting shine. For better or worse, Dave, at least, does it knowingly and makes it look easy. Stay tuned for more updates on Dave B and the release of his next fire album, Bleu, which will be dropping early 2019.
