D Smoke Lets Loose Assertive New Single, “Shame on You” Following Grammy-Nominated Album

Ever since D Smoke won Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow in 2019 he’s been on an undeniable roll. This year alone he’s already released a few new tracks, as well as his debut album, ‘Black Habits.’ Following his successful releases, D Smoke is back with his latest single, “Shame on You.” The Inglewood rapper showcases his signature assertive word-packed bars that prove his conscious artistry.

D Smoke lays down unapologetic bars like, “Think you’ve been slick, the truth defines you reclining, you so lethargic.” The clever wordplay is laid aloft a bass heavy beat controlled by punchy drums and melodic synths.

Summer in the wintertime

Smoke back on this beat, act like it’s dinnertime

Four packs, no receipt, no LoJack, hold my heat in case I have to throw that in the river after sinner time

Uh, I’m good, I’m good, I swear, I’m good, I ain’t losing no sleep

I’m hood, I’m Wood, I’m where I wanna be, see no defeat

I pull that off the hip to shoot the shit that piss the vultures off, the culture’s in good hands, goddamn, that man is so in sync

Uh, Justin Timberlake

Seized planet, now good karma on my dinnerplate

“Shame on You” marks D Smoke’s first release since his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Black Habits’ released earlier this year. For a debut album, D Smoke killed it with the feature choices. With artists like SiR, Snoop Dogg, and E-40 on the joint, it’s no surprise that the artist gained so much recognition for this project. In 2021, he earned a Grammy nomination for ‘Black Habits,’ as well as for Best New Artist.

With consistent quality projects and the respect that the industry has for D Smoke, this young rapper will only continue to make his way to the top. After a highly successful debut album and singles, we’re certainly excited to see what D Smoke comes up with for his sophomore album.
