Spooky season has arrived and Crankdat is embracing it. His newly released EP Fearworld features two new bone-chilling tracks you won’t want to leave off of your Halloween playlist. The cover photo’s apocalyptic horror movie vibes are well represented in the music. Above all, this EP is a buildup and bass clinic.
Starting in high school, Christian Smith A.K.A Crankdat has been creating and remixing energetic EDM tracks that have caught the eye of many. For instance, he gained a spotlight through strategically “Re-Cranking” popular tracks by Skrillex, Fetty Wap, The Black Eyed Peas, Travis Scott, and more. Additionally, an obsession over perfecting the art of EDM has led him to work with artists such as Krewella, Slander, Marshmello, and Jauz. Fearworld is Crankdat’s latest gift that demonstrates an accumulation of creative energy.
Song Descriptions
Crankdat made the first track “Horror Hour” self-explanatory. The fear begins with frightening tones and clock ticks that transform into escalating drum claps. In addition, a staccato choir chimes in indicating a sense of urgency leading into major builds and bass. The song tells an unfolding story using seamlessly woven in theatrics. Unexpected screams, voices, alarms, and chords played by an organ elevate the horrific undertones.
The EP continues with “Phantom Cry” immersing listeners into the world of fear Crankdat has created. A slow-paced start quickly transitions into a full audio experience. After that, he implements hard-hitting drum claps and ghastly high pitch tones as you progress through an unnerving melody. Additionally, haunted laughter and voices contribute to the overall effect.
Described as “the most terrifying place in the universe,” Fearworld clearly exudes the dramaticism of horror. Crankdat has transported listeners into a land filled with alarming chills.
