Conscious Presence just dropped their first self-titled album, a 21 track collection of oldschool hip-hop. This duo consists of lyricist and rapper “The Soul Seeker” and producer “Sound-Sage.” When I first listened to this album I thought for sure these guys were based out of New York City for their distinct conscious rap style but was surprised to find out that they’re actually Swiss.
CP’s multidimensional and philosophical presence coupled with funky instrumentals give off a classic 90’s hip-hop feel that’s just plain hard to come by these days. This collection brings me back to when I used to listen to old-school artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and KRS-One. These artists have raw appeal and real lyrical meaning.
Conscious Presence – Full Album
“It’s the conscious presence, let me introduce the topic. A record to remind everybody who forgot it. Genuinely honest, we stand above the gossip. Inspiring the people is the only form of profit.”
Pulling lyrics from their opening track “Dedication,” these lines do a solid job of laying out the groundwork for what to expect throughout the album. With a nonstop flow of knowledge and sharp urban perspective, The Soul Seeker’s rhymes will keep you entertained in ponder of his lyrical depth. Metaphorical and dense in character, this album offers a non-stop rhyme slaying odyssey of rhythm, melody, and feel-good beat.
