Clairo ‘Charms’ Fans Once Again with Special Third Album

Clairo, an extremely beloved alternative artist, has excited her wide fanbase with her new summer album, “Charm”, which is also her third released record.

Let’s see what Clairo had to say about what this album means to her and how she went about the process of making it happen.

Where it All Started

Clairo is most known for rising to fame after making YouTube videos of her lo-fi bedroom pop music in- you guessed it- her bedroom.  She made a video debuting her song, “Pretty Girl”, in 2017, making her 18 years old at the time, which quickly went viral and now has over 100 million views on YouTube.

Now at the age of 25, Clairo continues to explore and experiment with her image in the industry, as well as her style, making her a token alternative artist for fans since “Pretty Girl” first went viral.

Following this hit, she signed a record deal with Fader Label and started to release EPs, those being “Immunity” which dropped in 2019, “Sling” which dropped in 2021, and of course, “Charm” which just dropped earlier this past month.

Her most famous songs, besides “Pretty Girl”, since rising to fame are “Flaming Hot Cheetos”, “Bubble Gum”, “Hello?”, “4EVER”, “Bags”, as well as a few others.

Clairo’s New Charming Album

Clairo released her third EP, “Charm”, this past month on July 12th, with a total of 11 songs amounting to nearly 40 minutes.  The most popular songs on the album thus far are “Sexy to Someone”, “Nomad”, and “Add Up My Love”.

Clairo tells Matt Wilkinson in an Apple Music interview that “Charm” is about the gray area that two people feel when they are in the process of charming one another.  The theme is very fitting considering the soft vocals that she continues to show through all her music, no matter the genre style.

The album was produced by American music producer, Leon Michels, who Clairo says she shared a natural and fresh experience with during the process of creating the album.  She even tells Wilkinson that the process of making this album was easy and beautiful, which she really valued because it allowed her to have fun and really focus on being the musician that she wanted to be.

She also notes that she revisited her old music during this album process, in an attempt to try to figure out what it was about all her songs, even the ones she made in her highschool bedroom, that really made them hers.  With this, Clairo wanted “Charm” to be a full-circle moment that closed the loop of all the projects that she has done since being a teenager.

Clairo on Tour

Clairo goes on tour starting in early-September and will continue to perform all the way until mid-November.  Her tour starts in none other than Los Angeles at The Fonda Theater where she will be seen for five consecutive nights.  Then she will perform in New York City in Webster Hall for another five consecutive nights.  The remainder of her tour will include performances in quite a few more states, such as Texas, Arizona, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, and a few others.
