Cherry Boy, The Tuesday Parlay, and Sans Peter performed a memorable show last Wednesday night at The Sunset in Ballard. The three bands were each fun and interesting for their own unique styles. It made for a nice eclectic lineup to enjoy on a casual night out at the bar.
Sans Peter was energetic and soulful, with strong guitar licks and powerful drum rolls. Then topped it off with heavy-sung lyrics executed with amorous tone. They started off the night strong and got the audience hooked right away with a string of uplifting songs.
The Tuesday Parlay was upbeat, catchy, and really got me grooving with a string of hip, folksy, and smooth sounding rock tracks. Fairly new to the scene, these guys have been busy performing around Seattle and building a dedicated fanbase. With the release of a full-length album this year, The Tuesday Parlay is forming a solid foundation in the Seattle music scene.
Cherry Boy closed out the show with a memorable performance that really pulled in the audience and had them charged. Collin Lee Johnson captivated listeners with charming vocals, well-timed jokes between songs, and elated performances on his on his trumpet and trombone. The trumpet/trombone added a lot to the experience and the songs all felt like instant hits.
The guitarists (Jack Dearth, Schuyler Jensen,) bassist (Jett Breedlove,) and drummer (Greg Maltsberger) were all well in tune with each other, passing smiles and laughs back and forth. It was easy to tell that the group was on a good vibe, and it really reflected in the audience who was pretty enthralled throughout the show. Cherry Boy closed out the night strongly, leaving spectators applauding for more.
My favorite track by Cherry Boy was “Damaged Goods,” a new single which they will soon be recording at One Shot Studios. Sans Peter is also putting out their debut EP on August 15th with a release show at El Corazon, featuring Cherry Boy and Fortress of the Bear. The show is bound to be packed full of good tunes and excitement, so don’t hesitate to check it out! Find tickets Here.
