This past weekend, Chance The Rapper’s premiere of his concert film took place. He had the world premieres in Los Angeles last Friday and in New York the following day. Additionally, “Magnificent Coloring World” now plays exclusively at all AMC movie theaters.
“Magnificent Coloring World” was filmed during his Magnificent Coloring World Tour back in 2017. Shortly after he won three Grammys for his independent album, ‘Coloring Book.’ This isn’t documentation of a performance, rather an event planned for the concert film. The concert had an audience of 1,500 specially selected Chance fans who did not know they were attending a live performance. They all thought it was just a Chance-related event.

Chance The Rapper is well known for giving back to his community of Chicago. This is something that truly humanizes Chance and shows his warm heart. He constantly gives back to the city that he comes from.
The proof is in the concert film itself. He not only featured the Chicago Children’s Choir during the concert, but he also made sure he did an exclusive premiere of the concert film back on May 14th of this year. “I wanted to do something for my people, so they can experience something like this,” he said when asked the reason for doing an exclusive, VIP showing in Chicago.
Chance the Rapper created “Magnificent Coloring World” to celebrate his three Grammys for “Coloring Book”. He received the three Grammys for Best Rap Album, Best New Artist, and Best Performance for “No Problem,” featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. This was the first album to win that was a streamed-only album.
Though the concert was filmed back in 2017, the film didn’t hit theaters until this year. Chance The Rapper wasn’t satisfied with what was already filmed and edited; thus, he shelved the project. However, during the pandemic, he revived it and found himself falling in love with the process. The project not only celebrates his hard work and creativity but holds as evidence of his talents and tenacity as well.
