Portland has been hot this last week or so and Cassow is making sure the 503 stays on peoples’ minds, releasing his music video for “Goty Poetry” exclusively on WorldStar Hip-Hop. Taking a stab at Drake’s hit “Champagne Poetry” off his CLB album, Cassow wades through the dangerous waters that can come with the glow up.
He methodically works his way through this twist on the original Masego produced beat. Cassow goes back to the roots of hip-hop and raps with a clear and impactful story to tell. He throws in solid wordplay on “Goty Poetry” to go with a level of realness, one of his staples. He always manages to have at least one bar that seems to remind you just how good he is with the pen and paper.
“Fuckin’ up my method man, where my cream at? Fell out with some old n****s like, where your team at? All my goals exaggerated still tryna reach that.”

“The Day Goty Dies Swear it be a Sad Day”
Cassow has become one of Portland’s most successful artists in recent years right behind artists like Aminé and others. He hasn’t had that big break-out yet, but those in the PNW know he’s no one to sleep on. His 2020 album, I Couldn’t Wait, brought a nice buzz to Portland and he’s keeping that momentum going with “Goty Poetry.”
It’s been a minute since we covered something from Cassow but with this new release and current wave in Portland hip-hop, we definitely will have to keep an eye on what he’s got next.
