If you’re on the fence about what to do this weekend, might I suggest Bumbershoot? It’s the festival’s 52nd year and there are some incredible bands on the lineup, but there are a few that you don’t want to miss.
Art & Food Quick Hits
- The poster exzibit “Flatstock” is taking up the armory to support the Poster Institute.
- Jack’s BBQ is a Seattle BBQ staple. A nice brisket sandwich seems right for the last stretch of summer.
- The Chicken Supply makes filipino fried chicken. That’s all I need to know. Find it by the Mural Stage.
- Restaurant Homer is bringing a slice of fine dining to the Fountain Stage.
Artists you Can’t Miss at Bumbershoot 2025
Weezer
Let’s take a voyage to the blue planet with one of the greatest bands of all time. “Buddy Holly,” “Island in the Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” and my personal favorite, “The Sweater Song,” we’re talking about some of the most fun American rock hits of my lifetime, some of the greatest singalong anthems of all time. We get to knock another one off the bucket list.
The Murder City Devils
Seattle punk to the core, the Murder City Devils have been making the arounds since the late ’90s. The band has hit a second wind after a successful Capitol Hill Block Party show and is gearing up to record new music. Music that reminds me of the tattoo shops of my youth, it’s nice to see these old dogs back in the saddle again.
Janelle Monáe
When you get a chance to see musical savants like T-Pain or Anderson .Paak, you have to. Janelle Monáe falls directly into the category of musical legend and she’s headling Sunday night on the Fountain Stage.
