It’s hard to believe that Paradiso is actually over. Even after a week, I have to say that this year’s Paradiso has been my favorite one I’ve ever been to. The weekend was incredible and what made it even better was last Saturday’s interview with Americo Garcia of Boombox Cartel following his set at the Wreckage Stage.
Boombox Cartel Interviews @ The Gorge During Paradiso
RMR: You’ve been given support from the largest artists in the Electronic Music community and have played the largest festivals in the world. What has been your greatest experience as Boombox Cartel?
AG: You mentioned the support from everyone. The community is just so collaborative, it’s so, like, “send me that new stuff, I’ll play it out.” It’s just so close. The artists are just so close. That’s what I love about the community. It’s just so amazing.
RMR: Let’s talk about your new EP. It’s been out for only a couple of months, and it’s been very successful. Many artists have been caught playing out those songs. Which track from that EP has given you the most satisfaction when you finished it?
BC: I’ve got to say “Dem Fraid”. That was originally a remix. But then we were thinking that this could work as something else, something that could work better. We thought it’d last a lot longer. That’s why I chose that one.

RMR: What inspired you to get into the music business?
BC: I just ended up here. I stuck to my gut, I’ve always had this as a hobby. I would make beats after school, make beats in school. I was in a band so I’d practice with them after school. I was just like “this is what I love”
RMR: That’s super cool. So you have a musical background?
BC: Yeah, I play the piano, I play the drums, the viola, just a little bit of everything. My parents started to support me more and more after they had seen things picking up.
RMR: Who has been your favorite artist to work with so far? You’ve worked with NGHTMRE, Stalking Gia, Bro Safari, and Quix.
BC: Quix is a great friend of ours. It’s always fun to make music with your friend because you’re not nervous, we’re homies.
RMR: So it’s more organic, right?
BC: Yeah it just happens. We were in the studio with Flosstradamus recently. It’s just been so fun because his brain is filled with so much information. We can just go back and forth and just keep creating. It’s just amazing.
RMR: What is your favorite and least favorite road food?
BC: Definitely tacos. Haha. I love tacos. For least favorite, I’d have to say gas station sushi. So nasty. *group laughs*
RMR: What is your favorite non-music activity while you’re on the road?
BC: I like to visit the little restaurants that the cities I’m at are known for. I find that very fun. I feel like that can be a sport.
RMR: What is your game console of choice? Xbox, Nintendo, or Playstation?
BC: I’m a huge Xbox fan. I’ve been an Xbox fan since day one. But I’m kinda moving over to the PS4. I’m sorry.
