Saturday, May 19th, Tacoma-based funky-as-shit band Booboolala will be returning from a recording endeavor that has some big names, and even bigger mysteries attached to it. Funded by Papa Bueno Tequila, to make their trip down to L.A. to record with Bret Bollinger from the Hawaiian rock/reggae band, Pepper. You have to wonder what kind of news Booboolala will be bringing. With sold-out shows, KEXP airplay, and a solid local following. it’s safe to assume Barboza will be rocking tough this Saturday. RSVP to the event HERE. Buy tickets HERE and watch the video for their hit, “Wasted,” below:
Joined by Booboolala for the evening will be local bands PF Liars, and Cherry Boy.
PF Liars are a soulful trio who mix rock, RnB, and hip-hop together. Fronted by Blaine Davis aka 5 Flat, a former member of Nu Era, the trio truly mixes all the elements of smashing 16 bars and rocking a guitar solo all into one. The PF Liars display a naturally unique sound thorough out their debut self-titled EP that we covered back in January. You can read that here.
Cherry Boy is an indie-soul band (or “PBR’n’B band”) from Seattle, Wa. Started in 2014 by Collin Lee Johnson, seeking to make enjoyable, catchy music that strives to give a voice to those without one and pay homage to old female soul singers. Cherry Boy recorded their debut EP, Infatuation with local producer Dylan Wall at Hall of Justice Studios and Tastefully Loud in November 2017. You can listen to them on Spotify or Apple Music.
