BLXST and Bino Rideaux are back at it together with their newly released project Sixtape 2. This album follows up their 2019 “Sixtape,” a 6-track EP. This new 12-track project has only positively added to the success of the two rising Los Angeles artists. The album captures their usual Los Angeles sound, with catchy lyrics and R&B melodies. The two artists reflect on their South Central upbringing and continue to tell the story of their individual lives and their lives as creative artists.
The original “Sixtape” was released in 2019 and was a result of the two artists creatively collaborating throughout the years. BLXST initially started sending Bino Rideaux beats, and Bino would add verses and they started maintaining their creative relationship. One day, BLXST sent him a track with his vocals on it, and he wanted to take it to the next level. Their digital interaction grew from the first track they made together. Eventually, they had six songs together and decided to call it “Sixtape.“
Sixtape 2 Listening Session in Downtown Los Angeles
The two artists hosted a listening session for Sixtape 2 at the Ace Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on July 16th. They showcased a film that highlighted the story of Bino Rideaux and BLXST’s creative relationship. The film also gave a close behind-the-scenes look at the recording process of the album and how the two creatives fused their LA experiences with the release of the new project. The listening session hosted RMR, Burna Boy, Smino, and more to enjoy the release.
The two projects have many similarities as well as differences. The theme of both projects highlights the two artists’ desire to succeed, have fun, and be who they want to be without the interruption of anybody else. The first two songs on Sixtape 2 are catchy and upbeat, while the rest of the songs are slower and have a more heartfelt R&B feel to them.
The two artists intended to create a project that people could listen to and enjoy. Their artistry for this masterpiece highlights their creative capabilities, while also giving us a refreshing and new sound.
