SXSW is hosting 300,000+ people from around the world. Sessions will hit on points to help push progression in our worlds. The focus for the first few days has been an array of movie premieres, mentor sessions, panel discussions, and more. In the earlier sessions, we were able to catch Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin speak about the importance of recovery for the body.
The annual SXSW just wrapped up its first weekend of events in Austin, Texas. Celebrities and influencers kicked off the event with sit-down conversations to talk about various topics. Respect My Region took a trip down to the capitol of Texas to give you the inside scoop.
What did Damar Hamlin Speak About at SXSW?
In the hour-long session, we saw Damar Hamlin speak about recovery and responsibility. He was joined by Dr. Sara Gottfried, Dr. Andy Walshe, and Shyamal Patel. The conversation included points on how humans have lost basic knowledge of self when it comes to stress. They added that most humans don’t realize the stress that we’re taking on daily due to it seamlessly blending in with everyday life. Hamlin talked about the life of an NFL player, and how their scheduling conflicts with the ability to fully rest and recover properly. Each panel member all suggested putting an emphasis on bettering yourself with adequate sleep, giving yourself grace, and taking care of your mental and physical well-being. Former NBA all-star forward Blake Griffin also stopped by SXSW to discuss his current endeavors.
Griffin was joined by his business partner, former All-Pro NFL Center Ryan Kalil. The two spoke about the creation of Mortal Media. Mortal Media is a production company that has produced hit projects like “Hello Tomorow”, and “White Men Can’t Jump” remake. Blake, and Ryan Spoke about the early challenges of shifting into a new world of entertainment. They also shared knowledge about interpersonal relationships, and why they’re important to establish.
