Blade Runner is loved in the science fiction community and with the sequel coming out on October 10, I decided to grab some the Wedding Cake and watch Blade Runner: The Final Cut to get ready for Blade Runner 2049. The Wedding Cake strain is a sticky and delicious descendant of the famed cookies genetics. I picked up some of Lifted’s Wedding Cake and it certainly lives up to the hype.
Blade Runner is a cult classic that was released in 1982. It was directed by Ridley Scott and stars Harrison Ford and Edward James Olmos. This film is set in a not so distant future where humanity has created a line of robots that are virtually indistinguishable from humans called replicants.
Replicants were used for slave labor in the colonization of other worlds throughout the solar system. There was a blood revolt and the replicants went back to earth to find their creator. Blade Runner are specially trained operatives that track down and “retire” the rogue replicants.
After breaking down a small piece of Wedding Cake into a grinder, my fingers were incredibly sticky and I noticed that the small amount of flower I used filled up more of the chamber than I thought it would. The smoke was smooth and creamy. After two bowls I felt my body relax and melt into my couch, zoning out right into the movie. This strain slowed down my brain and made me one track minded, which is great for movie watching. It made everything seem a bit more vibrant as well, and that’s perfect for the neon city spaces Blade Runner is set in.
I watched Blade Runner: The Final Cut, which is a digitally remastered version of the the original and it looks beautiful. The colors pop and the textures and smooth and detailed. It barely looks like a movie released in the early 1980’s. This movie absolutely held up to my memories as a child, there we’re a few cheesy moments and not all of the special effects hold up,but it remains a science fiction epic. Maybe there is too much nostalgia with this one to cut through the bullshit, or maybe it’s just that dope. Grab some Wedding Cake and you be the judge.
