On October 22, 2022, the Big Hope Project, a dope social equity group based out of Boston, is hosting the first annual Cambridge Equity Celebration. This event honors the historic 2019 Cannabis Business Permitting Ordinance in Cambridge, MA. That ordinance influenced the creation of the first Social Equity Exclusivity Permitting Period in the nation. This momentous mandate made Cambridge a national leader in cannabis equity licensing and policies.
“Cannabis Equity is the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement.”
– Harry Jean-Jacques, Founder Big Hope Project
Under the ordinance, state-licensed economic empowerment companies were given a two-year grace period to open and operate recreational cannabis dispensaries in Cambridge – without getting crushed by established medical marijuana dispensaries or “Big Cannabis” competitors.
Now, thanks to the efforts of local grassroots BIPOC community activists, the city of Cambridge has voted to extend the priority period for social equity and economic empowerment entrepreneurs until September 2025!
Join the Big Hope Project this Saturday (10/22) from 4pm-8pm, at the Boston Marriott Cambridge, as they celebrate this notable victory.
