Berner has become one of, if not the biggest, names in the hip-hop world thanks to his brand Cookies taking over the mainstream cannabis scene. He’s built an empire and through it all he’s stayed dropping steady heat and stoner anthems to vibe to, most recently dropping his 14-track album Paulie Cicero.
Becoming one of the biggest icons in cannabis, Berner is a prime example of combining hustle with a plan. Using a clothing brand and his rap connections in order to build a weed empire, he’s brought it all together under a cohesive music, Cookies and cannabis umbrella. He really has shown young up n’ coming hustlers how it could, and maybe even “should,” be done in the rap and weed game.
Roll one up and spark it for Paulie Cicero as this whole album takes you on a smooth ride through cannabis culture, highlighting both the pros and cons of the come up.
Tracks like “Puff Puff Pass” are the more easy going, smoke and chill vibes with Wiz hitting the mark on a comical but also real-ass line, “I don’t show up unless I’m faded”, because we all know that person and if you don’t, it’s probably you.
The other side of the coin comes from tracks like “Equity” featuring Cozmo with a more classic Berner flow that evokes that more serious emotion of a hustler. Is there anything more real than flipping weed, stackin’ paper, and building up your equity?
Berner also taps in with California legend Mozzy and rapper/vocalist Coi Leray to bring Paulie Cicero to the top of the the smokers playlist. This probably isn’t Leray’s best work but Mozzy and the other artists featured on this album definitely did their thing.
