ATEE is searching for a bigger and better life on his latest single “Way Out.” A few months ago, we tapped in with the artist that calls both Detroit and Seattle home. We learned about his upbringing and what drove him into making music after so many failed 9-5’s.
He may not be made for the daily-to-day grind of working for someone else, but he was built to make music. The track is appropriately titled because it’s literally a look at his story as he finds his “Way Out” of a struggled past. Of course, it isn’t easy and no one can just flip a switch and suddenly they’re a different person and things are better. What’s dope about ATEE is he shows he aware of this with his lyric “nothing was the same though, still stuck in my ways oh.”
While “Glitch” is still probably my favorite from ATEE, “Way Out” is a close second. It has a smooth piano-backed beat that makes gets you doing a little shoulder shimmy. ATEE hits straight vibes, first going with a more sing-rap style and a catchy hook. It’s nice to see him change up a bit but still stick to himself and what he knows. Fans don’t want the same thing over and over. At the same time, you got to give them a little of what made them originally listen. ATEE marries that perfectly with his music.
Like I said before when I first wrote about him, ATEE is proving that it’s never too late to start a music career, or any career for that matter. If it’s what you want and you’re burnt out or things just aren’t working, go for it, you never know what could happen.
