Anderson .Paak Drops Catchy New Single + Video “Bubblin”

After contributing to features following the release of his 2016 album Malibu, Anderson .Paak has returned with a new vibe in his brand new single “Bubblin” – a track that deviates from his jazz, R&B, and soul roots. Seen in a much more aggressive state compared to his previous projects, .Paak takes on the concept of toxic obsession with money and discusses how greed changes people over time.

What makes Anderson .Paak unique as an artist is that he maintains his own R&B and soul-driven sound while he works with artists that are not typically in the same sonic landscape. His catalog of work contains artists such as Dr. Dre, Schoolboy Q, T.I, and more – their contributions ranging from features to being more heavily involved in full-length projects.

With the release of “Bubblin”, Anderson .Paak makes it clear to the listener that he is entering a new era. This new era still showcases his signature raw vocals, but it also layers those vocals over a trap-inspired beat. Elevating the instrumental is the high-tempo strings heard above the song, blending effortlessly with the addition of bebop-inspired brass heard in the background. The 808-heavy bass, deep, pungent kicks, and the infrequent but abrasive snare all provide the trap flavors that can be heard throughout this standout new track.
