September is packed with music festivals, from Bonnaroo to Firefly, to Music Midtown, and many more. Unless you make good money and have a flexible job, you’re likely only able to attend one, if any. When you’re trying to decide which to choose, you’ll definitely want to consider The Governors Ball. While many festivals like Bonnaroo take place outside of major cities, this 3-day music festival resides in the concrete jungle that is New York City.

Governors Ball takes place September 24th through 26th at Citi Field in Queens, New York. This year the urban music festival is celebrating their 10th anniversary. Governors’ lineup certainly reflects their accomplishments in the past decade. The festival poster is loaded with stars and emerging artists alike, covering a variety of genres.
Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Post Malone, and New York native A$AP Rocky are headlining the whole festival. Governors Ball is definitely hip-hop heavy, with other huge rappers like Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Young Thug, and Aminé making their way to the stages. Governors Ball is even taking it back a bit and putting on artists that you may have forgotten about, but definitely hold a special place in your heart. This includes Ellie Goulding and Carly Rae Jepsen, for instance.

Aside from the names you likely already know, you’ll find performances from many emerging artists. Some that you may have seen buzzing around the internet lately like Dominic Fike and 24kGoldn. Others on the come-up include Yeek, MIKE, Loony, EARTHGANG, and more.
If you’re looking to rave, you’ll be lucky to catch sets from RÜFÜS DU SOL, Duck Sauce, and A-Trak. But if you’re mostly looking for EDM, Governors Ball may not be the best choice for you.
You may have previously seen DaBaby included on the lineup, but after his homophobic comments at Rolling Loud, Governors Ball has removed him from performing. It is still unknown who will be replacing him.

If you’re looking to kill two birds with one stone, Governors Ball may be the perfect summer music festival for you. You’re able to enjoy the Big Apple and a music festival all in one trip. Does it get much better?
