6 montana rappers you should know

These 6 Montana Rappers Have Elevated Their State’s Music Scene

I can almost guarantee the majority of my friends and family reading this doesn’t know a single person from Montana, let alone any rappers. This certainly doesn’t mean there isn’t hip-hop talent coming out of this region. While the hip-hop scene is scarce, rappers that do claim Montana as home deserve recognition. These rappers may not be known nationally but they’ve built up strong hometown followings proving the appeal of their artistry.

OverTime

Bozeman

It’s no surprise that there is a country rapper coming out of Montana. OverTime is leading the way for Montana artists of all genres. He’s built a strong reputation in his home state, being one of the most successful artists in this area. His down to earth music have connected with listeners all over the world. OverTime weaves vocal and lyrical elements from country with the delivery and beats of hip-hop. His inventive style crosses limits creating an unexpected but vastly appealing sound.

DaNe RiCo

Billings

DaNe RiCo’s style is much different from the rest of Montana’s hip-hop scene. While most rappers from this state seem focused on packing an abundance of words in each song, DaNe RiCo takes a more steady route. His autotune emo style creates an appealing sound that connects deeply with listeners. Early in his much career when he was just 18, he received multiple awards for his debut album “Monet” and song “Lo$er.”

Prince Lockett

Billings

Prince Lockett may as well be the definition of underground. His effortless delivery over sneaky bass heavy beats crafts an undebatable attractive sound. While the numbers may not show for it, Prince Lockett belongs amongst hip-hop stars. I’m certain that with the right exposure, Prince Lockett could be the rapper to put Montana’s hip-hop scene truly on the map.

Eddwords

Kalispell

Though Eddwords isn’t originally from Montana, he reps it like it’s home. His Nashville roots inspire his lyrics and rhymes, with his 2018 album “406 to the Ville” connecting these two roots. His poetic manner flows with no signs of effort. While his lyrical focus paints vivid imagery inside listeners’ minds. If you’re a fan of young Mac Miller, you’ll be a fan of Eddwords.

Anonimus Eidentity

Billings

Anonimus Eidentity is a rap duo of childhood friends hailing from Billings, Montana. While they may not be known by many outside of this state, their loyal fanbase of locals carries them far. Anonimus Eidentity is known in this state for selling out almost every one of their shows. The locals say that their live performances are unlike any you’ve seen before. You can truly hear how much they enjoy rapping through their delivery and playful lyricism.

VISION – Anonimus Eidentity

Something I noticed when diving into the Montana hip-hop scene is that all of these rappers are lyricists. This may be due to the fact that no one really knows or talks much about Montana. These rappers want to make a name for their state and show the nation that they’re worth paying attention to.
