Fabolous and Jadakiss are two of the East Coast’s top MCs. The duo isn’t strangers to each other as their F vs. J album was one of the hottest collabs to come out in some time. The satirical play on Freddy vs. Jason was not only raw, but gave each MC the space to showcase their unique approach to killing a beat. The two have reunited once again on Apple Music’s Verzuz battle series hosted by Swizz Beatz and Timberland.
Apple Music is one of the streaming giants along with Spotify, but there isn’t a lot of talk about the content they run through their app. While Apple Music doesn’t sport the level of playlist curation that Spotify does, they feature an entire line of digital-radio content featuring some of hip-hops most talented artists including Swizz Beats, Zane Lowe, and a host of celebrity guest shows — like Josh Gad sharing “the soundtrack to his life.”
The Verzuz series has already other heavy hitter battles like a Nelly vs. Ludacris, Scott Storch vs. Mannie Fresh, and Swizz Beatz vs. Timberland kicked the series off. However, it’s clear that this live sequel of F vs. J elevated the platform while showing the versatility of live streaming content which is starting to become a new normal during the current pandemic.
Jada and Fab faced off in an epic 20 round contest that featured beats from Styles P, Weezy, DMX, Puff Daddy, and much more. After which the fans and media outlets are left to decide who won. Billboard and Revolt.TV declared Jadakiss the clear cut winner, but the consensus seems to be that both MCs performed admirably and elevated Verzuz to another level of popularity.
Verzuz also hosts star-studded after-party streams that run after the main battle. The last after-party was hosted by DJ Clue and DJ Envy. It’s awesome to see Apple Music is using its reach to create high-quality live-streamed content that real hip-hop heads can get behind.
