Unkle Festa Hits Hard On the Issues of Knife Violence In The UK With New Single “Out Your Mind”

Unkle Festa is a hip-hop artist hailing from the United Kingdom. His single, “Out Your Mind,” is a hard-hitting conscious rap about the issue of knife crime and gang violence in London. If you didn’t know already, gun laws in the U.K. are much stricter than here in the U.S. So, the primary weapons of choice for the majority of people on the streets are knives and sometimes acid attacks.

Acid Attack in London

But, with 285 deaths alone in 2018, not counting total attacks coming from knives or sharp instruments. This was the highest number since record-keeping began in 1946, according to qz.com. The U.K. is in a state of emergency, with a problem that unfortunately only seems to be getting worse with how easy it is to craft a sharp weapon let alone get a knife.

Unkle Festa is covering extremely relevant subjects that effect everyone in the world, not just the U.K. While is lyrics hit hard, it’s the video coupled with those lyrics that really add weight to this track. Using teens, the most heavily affected group to this issue, to show the trauma and pain one dumb decision can cause.
