Three local masters of their craft collaborating together for one project. What’s better than that?
A gripping story of vice, loss, and renewal. This is the story that Tacoma native producer and singer Tor Torbjørn Caspersen portray in his new single Wandering Alone, featuring Orange is the New Black superstar Vicci Martinez.
The song tells a story all too real in today’s music culture. Involving the loss of a friend to overdose, the lyrics stress the effects of one’s close loss. The guilt following the loss of a close friend while you’re still alive with your own vices. This emotion is what Torbjørn wished to illuminate in his project.
However, the young musician needed someone who truly understood these emotions in a real way. When showing Martinez the song, the multi-talented entertainer mentioned that “these lyrics are more relevant to me right now than you know”. This connection would lead to an unforgettable mashup of generational talent.
Some may not know that this isn’t the first time these two Washingtonian talents have worked together. Originally Caspersen had worked as Martinez’s sound engineer before her acting days. This strong parallel in the two entertainer’s careers would finally come full circle for this highly anticipated release.
Accompanied by haunting vocals by both musicians, video producer and fellow Tacoma native Joseph Abarca of Brain Made Digital really hit the mark. The trippy yet heart-tugging visuals of the music video draw the viewer in like few other releases.
With a duo containing international success in their fields such as Torbjørn and Martinez, it’s quite understandable how this song is a certified banger in my book. The goosebump raising vocals accompanied by captivating and enchanting beats and visuals.
This collaborative effort is one that will go down in history not only in Tacoma’s books but in the world of music connoisseurs throughout the world.
