Seattle has a side that’s rarely seen in our mainstream hip-hop music, the streets. Junior B drops a 10 track heater 071731 that represents just that.
The album holds a raw west coast street influence that has long been a piece of the local hip-hop culture. While he ventures into enough styles and cadences on the project, I don’t think boxing the Seattle artist in is fair. There’s a little something for everyone, records for the ladies, stuff to slap in the whip, and tracks like ‘Long Road’ featuring Huey P that you can roll one up and zone out too. Juniors mic presence and vocal tone really set him apart from the competition. Some of my favorite records on 071731 were ‘Where I’m From’, ‘Scams’, and ‘Long Road.’
