Remedy Cannabis is opening in Tulalip, WA on August 10th, 2018. The store aims to be at the forefront of design and technology in cannabis retail while representing the Native American values instilled in the Tulalip tribal culture.
Since legalization, the Marysville area (neighboring Tulalip) has outlawed the sale and production of cannabis. Remedy will be the first store in the direct area. The Tulalip area on the coast has also yet to see a shop, and this place is proud to honor the culture of the tribe that calls this area home. I was able to talk with Jonathan Teeters, GM of the shop.
Unlike other dispensaries, when walking into the store, customers will be greeted by concierges carry mobile devices. These concierges can take your order, give you a number, and guide you to the front where a cashier will take your payment. You can also order online and skip talking to the front of the house and head straight to the cashier if you’re in a rush or don’t want to talk to anyone!
Upon looking up, you will also notice a 360-degree art installation that represents the Pacific Northwest and the Natives history in the area. Starting on the left side of the shop near the ocean and shores of the art consumers can find soothing topicals, indicia strains and all things calming. Moving towards the center of the store the artwork moves into the forest where hybrids await. Past the hybrids to the right, you come to the mountains where the heavy sativas live.
The streamlined sales process is backed by some serious back-end technology. Each item is fitted with an RFID chip upon product intake in the warehouse. Once items are changed, products can be slide through a “tunnel” to the inventory room. They are automatically scanned and updated to both the online and store inventory systems. On the other side of the inventory room, there is another tunnel leading to the back of the cash register. Products are scanned as they pass through and automatically removed from the inventory.
Throughout this process, Remedy has created a series of positions within the company to provide a growth opportunity. Teeters explained that providing opportunity is a pivotal part of Native American culture and carried through to the organization.
The cultural element creates a pivotal piece as to why Remedy Cannabis is so revolutionary. Make sure to check out the shop if you’re in the Tulalip area!
