With minimal marketing and advertising, one of the worlds best DJ’s slid through our city without anyone knowing. This was Norwegian DJ Kygo, who played in Kent at the ShoWare Center with special guest Alan Walker. Kygo’s Kids In Love Tour is currently making its rounds in North America.
He brought a fairly large stage set up for a one-man show. He had his boards and electric piano on a rectangular platform, which was raised 20 feet above the stage. From there he played his popular tropical house hits and deep trance songs that everyone was dying to hear. Every so often, there were flames that would rise from the stage as the bass dropped as well.
Visually, throughout the performance, there was a lack of creative lighting and flashing lasers, but thankfully his hit songs made up for it! As my first show at ShoWare Center, I was pleased with how the sound carried throughout the venue; it was of high quality. For Kygo’s most popular songs that featured singers, he brought out a few of those artists to sing their verses live. This was a great addition to the show because it was nice to switch things up from just watching him stand behind his boards. Plus, it was enjoyable to see the people that played a big part in his hit songs right in front of you.
Overall, it was a very solid night. It was well worth the money and I’m sure everyone that went thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Hopefully, the next time Kygo’s in the Northwest, he’ll be playing at a festival so we all can get a day filled with electronic music although anytime you get a chance to see him, its always going to be good.
