I had never had the opportunity to smoke live resin before finding Death Star from Emerald City Cultivation. Sure, I had seen it around before, but none of the strains appealed to me. With Star Wars The Last Jedi coming out recently, I’ve been on a real Star Wars kick. Death Star is a pure indica strain that is a result of breeding Sensei Star and Sour Diesel.
Live resin is produced by flash freezing the bud rather than drying and curing the traditional way. According to Royal Queen Seeds this process preserves the flavor profile of the weed better than the traditional method of creating oil.
Due to never having the opportunity to smoke live resin before I was unsure of what to expect. This stuff is SUPER soupy and has a tendency to run off my dabber anytime I try and scoop some. Not once have I smelt oil that had such a potent aroma to it. The smell reminded me of freshly cooked pancakes. There was a light yellow liquid encasing an almost amber glob in the container.
I scooped up a glob just larger than a match head when my nail was hot enough. I was greeted by smoke that had a strong hint of pancake flavor. As I exhaled I found myself sinking into my couch. My body immediately relaxed. For a few minutes, I almost felt like I was too high. That feeling quickly faded as I relaxed. While the flavor of this weed is something everyone should experience, I would not recommend it to inexperienced smokers. However, I would recommend this to a Star Wars fan who needs to unwind after running from bounty hunters.
