This week’s Sunday slappers include Just A Gent’s flip of San Holo and Vincent Mcmorrow’s “The Future,” followed by a Remix of Figure’s “The Werewolf,” by Dmise.
Just A Gent did a wonderful job of putting his own spin on San Holo’s track and has definitely hit a soft spot in my heart. This twist of “The Future” takes the track into a realm of dark lowkey vibes, popping snares, and deep echoing tones, totally flipping the original track on its head. Compare San Holo’s original back to back with this flip and you will see what I mean.

Figure – The Werewolf (Dmise Remix)
Charles Duval, AKA Dmise, is a talented Seattle local who has been butting out some impressive dubstep for about three years. Dmise recently played a surprise B2B set with Figure at Resolution, a well known Seattle New Year’s Eve rave. This is no doubt an impressive feat for any local artist.
One can only wonder how long it will be until Dmise gets picked up on tour with Figure, or signed to a major record label. Dmise is also known for his talent in graphic art design, in which he has contributed to well-known labels such as Liquid Ritual.
This remix of Figure’s “The Werewolf” came out a week after his surprise set on December 29th, released under Fgure’s label, DOOM MUSIC. This remix sets a solid example of his skills in manipulating dubstep and dark electronic sounds.
Notice the dramatic variation he puts on this track, while still leaving in plenty of darkness and grime.
To me, has created something that is a little more direct and to the point. Still, I honestly have a hard time deciding which version of the song I like more. Nevertheless, Dmise is certainly an artist well worth looking out for in 2018. You can stream this track now on Spotify.
