Bandai is giving one of the most recognizable Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam an unexpected makeover. Instead of preparing for another battle against the Earth Federation, Char Aznable’s iconic red Z’Gok is becoming a comfortable addition to every fan’s home.
The company has introduced two new Gundam themed plush cushions inspired by Char’s customized amphibious Mobile Suit, combining collectible merchandise with everyday comfort. The collection includes Char’s Z’Gok Arm Cushion and Char’s Z’Gok Head Cushion, both available for preorder through Premium Bandai.
While the head cushion recreates the Mobile Suit’s recognizable design, the arm cushion takes it further by letting fans wear the signature Z’Gok claw, making it part cosplay accessory and part pillow.
Char’s Z’Gok Arm Cushion Combines Cosplay And Comfort
The standout item in the collection is the Char’s Z’Gok Arm Cushion. The arm recreates the Mobile Suit’s distinctive red arm and three pronged claw. Unlike traditional plush merchandise, the cushion features an opening that allows users to slide their arm inside, effectively transforming their hand into the claw of Char’s Z’Gok. The design makes it a playful accessory for Gundam fans who want to recreate poses from the original anime.
However, Bandai has also designed the product with a more practical purpose in mind. The soft cushion can support a person’s head while resting at a desk, allowing fans to take a quick nap with their arm comfortably positioned inside. Measuring approximately 46 centimeters (18.1 inches) long and 18 centimeters (7.1 inches) in diameter, the accessory is made with polyester fabric and filling.
The arm cushion is priced at 8,250 yen in Japan, while its reported U.S. retail price is $69.
Gundam Z’Gok Head Cushion Features Char’s Iconic Red Design
For collectors who prefer something less interactive, Bandai is also releasing a matching Z’Gok Head Cushion. The circular plush recreates the head of Char’s customized Mobile Suit, including its recognizable mono eye design and signature crimson coloring.
Measuring approximately 30 centimeters (11.8 inches) across and 13 centimeters (5.1 inches) tall, the cushion is designed for use on a couch, chair, or bed. Like the arm version, the head cushion uses polyester materials to create a soft collectible inspired by the original anime. The head cushion is priced at 7,700 yen in Japan, with a reported U.S. price of $65.
Together, the two products offer a different approach to Gundam merchandise, moving beyond traditional Gunpla model kits, action figures, and display collectibles.
Char’s Z’Gok Remains A Gundam Fan Favorite
First appearing in the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime, the Z’Gok is an amphibious Mobile Suit developed by the Principality of Zeon. Designed for underwater operations and close range combat, the machine became particularly memorable when Char Aznable piloted his customized red version during the attack on the Earth Federation’s Jaburo headquarters.
The scene remains one of the character’s recognizable moments, helping establish the Z’Gok as a favorite among longtime Gundam fans. Char’s distinctive red Mobile Suits have since become an important part of Gundam’s merchandise history.
Although his customized machines are usually associated with speed, combat, and intimidation, these new cushions give the familiar design a much more relaxed purpose.
Gundam Z’Gok Cushion Preorders And Release Dates
Preorders for both cushions opened October 9 through Premium Bandai, with Japanese orders scheduled to close January 31, 2027, unless quantities sell out earlier. Japanese shipments are expected in February or March of 2027.
For Gundam collectors looking for something different from another model kit, the Char’s Z’Gok cushion collection offers a fun combination of nostalgia, practical comfort, and recognizable anime design.
