Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 Announced For PS5 And Steam With Cross-Play

The next generation of Gundam multiplayer battles is officially coming. Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 on October 28, 2026, revealing a new free to play team based action game coming to PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam.

Unveiled during the Gundam Games 40th Anniversary livestream, the upcoming title introduces several major changes to the series, including cross platform multiplayer, improved graphics, new combat abilities, and Mobile Suits from outside the Universal Century timeline.

For longtime players of Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, the announcement marks a significant evolution of the franchise. The biggest improvement is the addition of PS5 and Steam cross play, allowing players on both platforms to compete together. Bandai Namco has not announced an official release date, but an early network test is already scheduled for November.

Gundam Battle Operation 3 Introduces PS5 And PC Cross-Play

One of the most requested features among multiplayer gaming communities is finally coming to the Battle Operation series.

Unlike its predecessor, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 will support cross play between PlayStation 5 and Steam, removing the platform restrictions that previously separated players. This means console and PC players can join the same matches, potentially creating a larger matchmaking pool and making it easier for friends to play together.

The game retains the tactical combat that helped establish the series, allowing players to pilot massive Mobile Suits while working with teammates to complete battlefield objectives. However, piloting a Gundam isn’t the only way to contribute to victory.

Players can exit their Mobile Suits to fight as infantry, capture strategic locations, plant explosives at enemy bases, and request support fire. These mechanics create battles where positioning, communication, and teamwork matter as much as choosing the strongest Mobile Suit. The sequel also introduces improved visuals, more detailed environments, and updated Mobile Suit models designed to make combat feel more immersive.

New SP Skills And Battle Assist Features Expand Combat

Bandai Namco is also introducing gameplay systems intended to make combat more accessible while expanding tactical possibilities. Every Mobile Suit will receive a unique SP Skill, giving it special abilities that can influence battle outcomes. These skills add another layer of strategy, encouraging players to decide when to activate them alongside their traditional ranged weapons and close combat attacks.

Another addition is Battle Assist, a feature designed to simplify complicated controls and help players execute combos more easily. For newcomers who have struggled with the series’ heavier movement mechanics, this could make the game easier to approach without completely removing its tactical identity.

Players will also have access to Base Camp, a social hub where they can interact with other pilots between matches.

Gundam Seed Joins The Roster At Launch

Another major announcement is the inclusion of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed in the launch roster.

Previous Battle Operation entries primarily focused on the Universal Century timeline, featuring Mobile Suits from series such as the original Mobile Suit Gundam, The 08th MS Team, and 0083: Stardust Memory.

Adding Gundam Seed brings the Cosmic Era timeline into the experience, opening the door to a much broader selection of Mobile Suits. Bandai Namco also confirmed plans to introduce two to three additional Alternative Universe series during the game’s first year of service.

Although the publisher has not revealed which timelines will arrive next, the expanded approach could eventually introduce machines from several other popular Gundam series.

For fans who have wanted to see Mobile Suits from different Gundam universes compete within the same tactical multiplayer game, this is one of the sequel’s most exciting developments.

Gundam Battle Operation 3 Network Test Begins In November

Before the official launch, Bandai Namco will conduct an advance network test on November 20 and 22, 2026. Registration opens October 29 and runs through November 8.

Participation is limited to residents of Japan who have played Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2. Eligible players can apply through an in game announcement. The test will support both PlayStation 5 and Steam, allowing Bandai Namco to evaluate cross platform matchmaking and server performance.
