Dayseeker Announce ‘Creature In The Black Night Redux’ With The Midnight Collaboration And My Chemical Romance Cover

Dayseeker is revisiting one of the biggest releases of their career with an expanded edition of their 2025 album Creature In The Black Night. The Southern California band has announced Creature In The Black Night Redux, arriving February 26, 2027, through Spinefarm Records, featuring new remixes, stripped down live performances, and a cover of My Chemical Romance’s “The Ghost of You.”

The announcement also introduces a collaboration with electronic music duo The Midnight, who have reimagined several songs from the original album with their signature synthwave production.

To celebrate the upcoming release, Dayseeker have shared a new version of “Shapeshift,” featuring The Midnight, alongside an official lyric video.

The expanded project brings together two different musical worlds, combining Dayseeker’s emotional alternative metal sound with the atmospheric synthesizers and nostalgic electronic influences that have helped establish The Midnight’s identity.

Dayseeker And The Midnight Reimagine “Shapeshift”

The newly released “Shapeshift” remix offers the first look at what fans can expect from Creature In The Black Night Redux.

Originally featured on the band’s 2025 album, the track has been reworked into an ’80s-inspired synthwave arrangement through the collaboration with The Midnight.

For Dayseeker vocalist Rory Rodriguez, the opportunity to revisit the song came from a personal connection to a quieter version he had previously played on piano.

“I used to jam a mellow version of ‘Shapeshift’ on my piano and sending it to The Midnight and getting to hear them transform it into an ’80s synthwave version just completely blew us away,” Rodriguez explained.

He described the collaboration as a complete reinvention of the original recording, giving listeners an opportunity to experience the song from a different musical perspective.

The Midnight’s Tim McEwan also shared his excitement about working with Dayseeker, explaining that he has wanted to explore a crossover between metal and synthwave for years.

“We’ve always felt a deep connection to the metal community. For years, I’ve been wanting to create a genre called ‘metalwave,’ and this is the first step in that direction,” McEwan said.

The collaboration highlights an interesting connection between the two groups.

Although Dayseeker and The Midnight come from different musical backgrounds, both have built their identities around emotional songwriting and atmospheric production.

For Dayseeker, the remix project provides an opportunity to explore those similarities while introducing their music to listeners outside the traditional alternative metal audience.

‘Creature In The Black Night Redux’ Features New Remixes And A My Chemical Romance Cover

The expanded edition includes the original Creature In The Black Night tracklist alongside additional recordings that explore different sides of Dayseeker’s sound.

Among the most notable additions is the band’s interpretation of My Chemical Romance’s “The Ghost of You,” originally released on the band’s influential 2004 album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.

The song holds personal significance for Dayseeker, who wanted to honor the original while incorporating their own musical identity.

“The MCR cover of ‘Ghost of You’ is so nostalgic for all of us in the band as well and we really tried to recreate that song in our own band’s sound and image,” Rodriguez explained.

The Midnight also contributed a remix of the cover, giving fans two different interpretations of the track.

Additional remixes include “Crawl Back to My Coffin,” “Bloodlust” featuring Gabi Rose, “The Living Dead” featuring Sace6, and the album’s title track.

The collection also includes stripped down performances of “Shapeshift” and “Crawl Back to My Coffin,” recorded live on SiriusXM Octane.

These additions offer a different perspective on the band’s songwriting, allowing listeners to experience familiar material through electronic arrangements and more intimate performances.

Dayseeker Continue Their Momentum Following ‘Creature In The Black Night’

Originally released in 2025, Creature In The Black Night marked another important chapter for Dayseeker as the band continued developing its combination of melodic vocals, atmospheric instrumentation, and heavier alternative metal influences.

The album followed the group’s previous releases, including Sleeptalk and Dark Sun, which helped expand their audience beyond traditional metalcore listeners.

Their recent success has also extended to rock radio.

“Crawl Back to My Coffin” became Dayseeker’s first No. 1 single at the format, while the original version of “Shapeshift” was the most-added track at rock radio during its release week, according to the announcement.

Those milestones reflect the band’s continued growth as its music reaches a wider audience.

Rather than moving directly into another full-length album, Creature In The Black Night Redux gives Dayseeker an opportunity to revisit songs that have already connected with listeners while experimenting with new arrangements.

The project also introduces the possibility of further collaborations between electronic and heavy music artists, particularly as the boundaries between genres continue to evolve.

Dayseeker Joins Motionless In White On The Sweat And Blood Tour

Alongside the expanded album announcement, Dayseeker are preparing to return to the road as direct support for Motionless In White on the second leg of The Sweat And Blood Tour.

The upcoming run begins October 30 in Worcester, Massachusetts, and continues through November 20 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Devil Wears Prada and Dark Divine will also join the tour, bringing together four bands representing different sides of modern heavy music.

The performances will give Dayseeker another opportunity to connect with fans following the success of Creature In The Black Night while introducing new listeners to their catalog.

With a major tour approaching and an expanded album arriving early next year, the band has plenty planned heading into 2027.
